| This solid sleek 4-8-4 Northern type steam locomotive was built by Alco-Schenectady in April of 1944 as Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific #5101 (serial #71946). Sadly the loco only served for 9 years before being retired and sold for scrap in September of 1953.What a waste of money to have only served that short a time! Specs - class 66A (R-67), oil burner, 74" drivers, impressive 270 psi boiler pressure, 26x32" cylinders, engine wt of 467,000 lb and tractive force of 67,088 lb. This is a Wesley Krambeck photo. |
