| This solid looking 0-8-0 yard switcher could most definitely handle the switching and shuffling of cars in a yard. Built by Alco-Schenectady in 8/1930 as Hocking Valley 0-8-0 #238, it was later absorbed into the C&O roster and renumbered CO 0-8-0 #238.No final disposition is known currently - presumedly scrapped between 1954-57. Specs - serial #68463, class C-16. 52" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 25x28" cylinders, wngine wt of 240,000 lb and tractive effort of 57,200 lb. This was taken by Arthur B. Johnson photo |
