CB&Q 4-6-0 Class K-2 659
Description:
Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad 4-6-0 Class K-2 659 at Peoria, Illinois on an unknown day in October 1925, photograph by Paul Ellenberger, print by Don Gruber, Chuck Zeiler collection. The CB&Q had ordered 55 4-6-0 locomotives from the newly organized Grant Locomotive Works of Cicero, Illinois in 1893, however, only three were completed before a strike at the Works suspended locomotive production. The CB&Q cancelled the rest of the order and continued the order at the railroad's own shops. Number 659 was completed by the Havelock, Nebraska shops in 1985 as Burlington & Missouri River number 6, renumbered in 1904 to CB&Q 659 and classed as K-2, retired in October 1946.

CBQ 4-4-0 #475, Inspection Engine - Chicago, Burlington & Quincy
Description:
Not much information is listed anywhere about this Chicago, Burlington & Quincy 4-4-0 #475 inspection engine. There was a vague reference to 4-4-0's built by Lancaster Locomotive Works (Lancaster, PA) which were rebuilt by the CBQ shops into inspection and special maintenance locomotives. However, there was no direct info on #475. If anyone has information on this rare CBQ inspection loco #475, please leave a comment or contact me so I can improve this listing. No date or photographer was listed so an approximate date was used to post the photo.
