Description:  Back in 2000, mixed power was still rare enough so that you could get other railfans' attention by photographing it. It is, after all, a bit odd to see a CSX freight in Utica, NY being pulled by locomotives from the Canadian National and the Kansas City Southern. The trailing locomotive is a bit old already by modern standards as the lead locomotive, an SD75I, is trailed by an SD40-3.

Description:  The color on the hillside is patchy, not common for this time in October, as it has usually peaked by now. The red nose on the CN unit leading 41T stands right out in the late afternoon sun as the train rolls around the big curve at Campville.

I always got a kick out of this
Title:  I always got a kick out of this
Description:  There were several NS trains that ran on CP south of Binghamton. One of them was 41T, an Enola-Toronto train that came up through CPs East Binghamton yard before gaining the NS Southern Tier Line at BD. It usually had CN power, and I loved the irony of the competitor using the same tracks. It was even better when 41T would run through as CP was getting one of their own trains out. Today is one of those days, as CP 419's power is moving onto the 1 runner from the north end of the shop, as 41T rolls its 75 cars through the yard behind a solid set of CN units.
