Here is a nice roster shot of a very solid Chicago, Burlington & Quincy 2-8-2 Mikado found sitting in the North Kansas City, MO, yard. It was built by Baldwin in December of 1912 as CBQ 5284 (serial #38983, class O-2). In January of 1931, the loco was rebuilt at the Havelock Shops to an O-2-A class level. After nearly 39 years of service, the loco was sold for scrap in August of 1951. Rebuilt specs - 64" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 28x32" cylinders, engine wt of 338,624 lb and tractive force of 66,640 lb. Unfortunately, no photographer was listed for the photo. |
