Description:
Multiple-unit equipped Illinois Central SW9 9333 was photographed at New Orleans Union Passenger Terminal while construction was still going on. On the other side of the locomotive is the NOUPT Railway Express Agency building, which was completed in 1950. NOUPT had just been placed in partial operation -- for IC, MP (GCL) and SP trains -- and it was placed in full operation on 16 April 1954. The 9333 was renumbered 1233 in September 1957 and rebuilt into SW14 1437 in September 1980.
