Chione. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide via Al Chione. Shown here (L to R) is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9847 and another unit whose road number is not recorded. Both were built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #9847 was constructed in May of 1952. In this context, this A-B set is powering a wintertime passenger train. The photographer's name, the exact date, and the location are not recorded.

Description:
17th Street. Here is an original photo that I took of a Pennsylvania Railroad train in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 25 April 1964. Shown here (R to L) are PRR engines #9847, #7195-B, #9675, and #9855. All were built by EMD. #9847 is an EFP-15 built in 1952 and rated at 1,500 horsepower. #7195-B is an EFS-17M built in 1957 and rated at 1,750 horsepower. #9675 is an EF-15A built in 1949 and rated at 1,500 horsepower. #9855 is an EFP-15 built in 1952 and rated at 1,500 horsepower. They are pulling 25 gondola cars loaded with pipes destined for the Alaska Pipeline.

They are about to pass under the 8th Street Bridge into the Westbound Receiving Yard with 100 empty coal cars and N-8 caboose #478213.
