Horseshoe Curve-1966. Here is an original photo that I took at the Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, Pennsylvania, in mid-May of 1966. Shown here are three Pennsylvania Railroad engines: the one in the middle is #6033, but the numbers on the other two units are not recorded. #6033 is an EF-25A built by GM-EMD in April of 1965 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. They're returning to East Altoona for another helper/pusher run up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin and back. |
