D-Prints. Here is a print by an unidentified photographer that was taken near Cove, Pennsylvania, c. 1968. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #1493 and #7156. Both were built by GM-EMD. #1493 is an EF-15A built as number "9793" in March of 1951, rated at 1,500 horsepower, renumbered "1493" in preparation for the PRR-NYC merger, and retired in August of 1967. #7156 is an EFS-17M built in October of 1957 and rated at 1,750 horsepower. In this context, they're pulling a train of empty hopper cars to Altoona and the coal mines of Western Pennsylvania. Brad Mann Collection. |
