Title:
Great Northern SD9 at Minneapolis Junction in 1969.
Description:
The Great Northern had a major roundhouse and deisel house at Mpls Jct by the Mpls Depot. They also serviced engines here for their major Great Northern University of Minnesota yard at Hwy 280. The GN backshops for rebuilds was at Dale St in St Paul MN near the Jackson St shops. The GN ordered their SD9s withouw dynamic brakes, so that is a way to determine GN or CBQ. The Jackson St Shops in St Paul has an operating SD9. SD9s survived working on the BNSF until 2011.
