Here is a photo from a reprint of the November 1956 issue of "Modern Railroads" magazine, page 54. Photo Caption: "Repair Section of Harrisburg shop, one of Pennsy's two new maintenance facilities. Shopping is scheduled on basis of miles operated." Visible at the left are two unidentified EP-20 locomotives built by GM-EMD. Partially visible at the right is PRR engine #5828. It was built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works as a BP-60 passenger engine rated at 3,000 horsepower in November of 1948, later regeared and reclassified as a 2,250 horsepower BH-50 for freight and helper service only, and retired in April of 1962 after just 14 years of revenue service. |
