| Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe 4-6-2 Pacific #1339 (serial #37782, class 1337) was buiilt by Baldwin in May of 1912 as a 4 cylinder balanced compound locomotive. It was later rebuilt to a simple loco in June of 1924 at the San Bernardino Shops. After serving for nearly 37 years, the loco was sold for scrap to the Kaiser Company on 2/7/1949. Rebuilt specs - 73" drivers, 210 psi boiler pressure, 23.5x28" cylinders, engine wt of 267,000 lb and tractive force of 33,400 lb. Since no date, location or photographer was listed for the photo now in my rr collection, an approximate location and date were used. |
