| This is a great roster shot of the long, sleek and powerful 2-10-4 steam locomotive. Instead of wheel configuration name, "Texas", the CBQ called this wheel configuration a "Colorado" instead. Baldwin built this 2-10-4 Texas type steam locomotive in November of 1927 as Chicago, Burlington & Quincy #6315 (serial #60255, class M-4). To increase speed, the loco was rebuilt in November of 1939 to the class M-4-A. After nearly 34 years of service, the loco was sold for scrap in April of 1961. Rebuilt specs - 64" drivers, impressive 250 psi boiler pressure, 28x32" cylinders, engine wt of 504,570 lb, and tractive force of 83,300 lb. No photographer was listed for the photo. |
