GBW 1001
Description:
GBW 1001 located northeast of the CN, former GB&W, grade crossing at Depot St. in Manawa, WI on 2 Jun. '13. I believe the ca. 1951 cinderblock GB&W Manawa depot was located just beyond the station sign. A photo can be found at: http://www.wisconsinhistory.org/. I haven’t been able to pinpoint the location of the 1898 wood-frame depot, but I think it stood about where GBW 1001 is now. Rail Activity in Manawa Again, Sort of.
Description:
CN 074930 and GBW 1001 at Depot St. in Manawa, WI on 23 Jul. '13. The MoW worker was working in the signal relay case, the door is open. Is it just routine maintenance, or could it indicate rail traffic returning to this line in the near future? I haven’t been able to pinpoint the location of the 1898 wood-frame depot, but I think it stood about where GBW 1001 is now.
