Description:  I got word that Wheeling 221 and 237 were almost back to back out of Brewster, and with the sun now setting, and nothing much happening on CSX, I was thinking about heading back to Spencer for at least 237 before calling it a day. But, thats when I heard something pop up on the scanner that immediately changed the outcome of the afternoon. "SRS 131" was calling signals on the Big 4. Knowing that was a Sperry Car, I made a dart for New London. Sure enough, I was right, and I decided to finish my day off with it. W004, as it was symboled, splits the trilights at New London.

Title:  SRS #132 - Sperry Rail Service
Description:  Built in 1925 by the St Louis Car as a doodlebug for the Seaboard Air Line, it was converted by the Sperry Rail Services company to a rail detection car. From the photos posted on this website, it was still in service in 2005. The location and date were not marked on the back of the photo but from with the help of Chuck Zeiler's comment below, it must be after 2/1/1962 since the headlight is different after that. If anyone can help fix closer date, please let me know.

Description:  SRS. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of Sperry Rail Service Detector Car #132, a "Doodlebug" built by the St. Louis Car Company during April of 1925 and acquired by SRS in 1943. Partially visible at the right is Reading Railroad engine #5205, a C424 built by the American Locomotive Company in November of 1963 and rated at 2,400 horsepower. The photographer's name, the exact date, and the location are not recorded.
