Amtrak's westbound SUNSET sits in New Orleans Union Passenger Terminal, awaiting its 12:01 P.M. departure. The train has four FP7A's: AMTK 113 (ex-SP 6449) with SP 6459, 6461 and 6448. Amtrak only owned 14 FP7A's, and all were former SP units.

Amtrak Train No. 1
Description:
Amtrak’s westbound
SUNSET
was pulling out of New Orleans Union Passenger Terminal right on time at one o’clock in the afternoon with an A-A-B-A set of former Southern Pacific F-units and nine cars. The first three locos: FP7A 113 (ex-6449), FP7A 110 (ex-6446) and F7B 161 (ex-8291), were freshly-painted in Amtrak colors, while the last unit, FP7 6459, still looked like an SP engine; but it would soon become Amtrak 122. The train consisted of baggage car 1102, hi-level coaches 9920, 9932 and 9900, dormitory-bar-lounge car 3394, Northern Pacific diner 463, and sleeping cars 2361
