The day was gloomy enough, but that camera had a light leak, so the rear of this 53 car BUOI approaching MP 253 is a bit fogged.

OIBU behind a pair of Conrail only C32-8s waits at Johnson. The second two units are a pair of new C40-8's in the CR Quality scheme that were just lifted off an XCL coal train
A brand new pair of CR Quality C40-8Ws lead an XCL empty coal train on the west side of Binghamton. It will leave after dark, giving a bunch of us a chance to get some night photos.
One of the things that the DLW was noted for, and in some places, the Erie as well, was concrete structures. Here we see and XCL empty coal train sitting on the Jarvis St overpass on Binghamtons west side, a couple of spanking new Quality C 40s in the lead over a 60 year old bridge.
BUOIs power is in the plant at BD as it works Liberty St. CP train 556 stares at the signal on the ex DLW, track 5 to Conrail, to get into its yard across the river.
BUOI blasts through Campville, kicking up a dust trail as it rolls 40 cars for Binghamton.
BUOI leaves Binghamton under a fiery sky, its C40-8 silhouetted against a dramatic sunset.
In photo that has "Erie" written all over it-note the space for the center siding, and the Erie "traffic light" signal in the distance, the X2000 meets BUOI just east of town. The only thing better would be a couple of EL SD45s-or maybe SD60s by this time-on the freight.
Not exactly. In 1993, the X2000, a prototype for what would become the Acela, toured the eastern US and CP. It ran from Philadelphia to Buffalo via Binghamton. Here we see it meeting BUOI at Ellistown Rd east of Waverly. Thats one of Eries variety of signals on track 2.
Within a week of their delivery, a pair of CR Quality units appeared on a coal train. We were able to get a couple of night shots at Johnson while they were waiting for OIBU(with a pair of C32-8s!!) to pick them up and go west.
As they ease around the curve towards the targets on the mast at West BD
As teh slack ran out it disturbed the pigeons in the yards at Binghamton
Indiana Harbor Belt to Elkhart
The "Pocket Piggybacker" at Ballou's. This train was usually pretty short, only about 50 axles or so on the Becket detector axle count.
Friday-only TV-80W at Ballou's.
TV-80W clearing it out at Ballou's.
FRSE by Washington depot at the west end of Washington cut.
