View from the pusher set |
| Description: |
On the hillside behind the Chenango Valley High School used to sit SA Cabin. This is where the double track out of the old Bevier St yard turned to single track. On ST SD26 #622 the pusher set has just cleared SA Cabin as they push train JET2 up Belden Hill. Roughly 10 years later SA Cabin would be replaced by CPF-611 that sits between Phelps St and Nowlan Rd. and the track and signals here would disappear. The signal mast on the far end of the control point was still standing 2 decades later overtaken by the growth of trees. |

Crossing tie swollen river |
| Description: |
The NYSW ran trains for the Marathon Maple Festival for a number of years in the 80s and>90s, using wh`tever power was available and clean, usually Alcos, though in later years it was the 142 and a variety lf SD 45s. This train had Alcos fore and aft, and we see D&H 5023, the one with the best paint, cleaned up and leading the first train for the 1989 weekend across the Chenango River, close to overflowing its banks due to spring runoff. |

Looking down the river |
| Description: |
BH 3 rolls 35 cars across the Chenango River, in a companion piece to the similar photo in this album, only now we see more of the frozen river it is crossing. There was a time when an effort was made to have a yellowjacket leading, to put forth a good image. Not today, as the patch painted ex SP unit is leading. It will eventually become an SD30ECO, but for now, its still a tired ex SP tunnel motor. |

The NYSW had a wide variety of hand me down power over the years, and they were not shy about mixing it up. Most of the time, they put the yellowjackets in the lead, but anything could show up. BH 1 crosses the Chenango River on its way to Syracuse with a pair of yellowjackets, a six and a four motor unit, leading an ex NW SD, still in black dip. |

Canned |
| Description: |
NYSW would sometimes recrew trains at Chenango Bridge if they needed to stow the train somewhere for a while when they didnt have a crew ready immediately. One place they did this was at Chenango Bridge, where there was a long stretch with no crossings. Were at Kattelville Rd adjacent to the Chenango Valley school districts bus garage, where this CSX detour train has been stashed til theres a crew. |

150th Anniversary trip |
| Description: |
In 2004, the NYSW ran a pair of Syracuse-Binghamton trips to mark the 150th anniversary of predecessor Syracuse Binghamton & NY. They ran Binghamton/Syracuse and return on Saturday, the opposite on Sunday, with the 142, M&E FL9s and a couple of NYSW units. Heres Saturdays train crossing the Chenango River. I must have been running out on the NY 12A bridge ank just made the shot, its a little off level. |

| Description: |
BH 2 rolls 51 cars across the Chenango on its way to Binghamton with a power set that includes three of its four ex SP tunnel motors. The two trailing units were the only tunnel motors in yellowjacket at the time. The NY 12A bridge is in the background. |
