Here is an original photo by an unidentified photographer of Pennsylvania Railroad engine #6027, a D-16SB (4-4-0) "American" built in Juniata as a D-16B in July of 1904, rebuilt as a D-16SB in July of 1916, and retired in December of 1930 after 26 years of faithful service. Specs - class D8-c, Specs - 68.5" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 20x24" cylinders, engine weight of 166,925 lb, tractive effort of 23,825 lb, superheated in 1920 and reclassified as D8-sd. PRR 4-4-2 #4176 - Pennsylvania RR
Description:
With a full tender and steam up, PRR 4-4-2 Atlantic #4176 is ready for another day of service. The loco was built by the PRR's own Juniata Shops in August of 1907 (Juniata serial #1730, class E3d). In May of 1913, it was rebuilt into an E3sd class loco. The final disposition of the loco is currently unknown. This is an Elroy Giffin photo.

Here is the 33rd of 36 plates constituting the "Centennial Album of Pennsylvania R.R. Photos and Prints." It was published originally in the April 1946 issue of "Railroad" magazine, page 42. Photo Caption: "Gig Tops. After a disastrous passenger train wreck on the Camden & Amboy, gig tops were applied to the tenders, giving the head brakeman a shelter from which to survey the cars behind.
