Title:  CIL 2-8-2 #524 - Chicago, Indianapolis & Louisville (Monon)
Description:  Built by Alco-Brooks in August of 1912, this iconic Monon Mikado power, CIL #524, was used in both passenger and freight service during its lifetime. After nearly 36 years, it was retired on February 26, 1948 and sold for scrap later in April of 1948. Specs - J-1 class, 63" drivers, 170 psi boiler pressure, 28x30" cylinders, engine weight 286,000 lb, tractive effort of 56,800 lb. Robert P. Morris photo

A note on the back of the photo states "Louisville & Nashville EMD GP40 3028 north of Bloomoington, Ind, 10/72 northbound freight with SCL GP30 in unit consist. Notice paint scheme, solid yellow nose with exception of top which is grey to reduce glare. Black pilot, black numbers and "L&N" (non slanting". Black is present around herald." Description:  As a Hoosier, it's always a nice feeling to post an Indiana related photo like this one. An unknown photographer caught this Indiana Rail Road remoter controlled caboose (shoving platform now) in a Bloomington, IN, yard. As a Puirdue grad, the only thing I wish were different would be if the photo were taken in Lafayette, rather than Bloomington! does anyone know what the origins of this caboose are? Is it an IC/ICG origin?
