Built by Baldwin in January of 1911, SOU 2-8-0 Consolidation #883 led a very long life of service for the Southern Rwy. It was retired and sold for scrap in May of 1952 after 41 years. Rebuilt specs - serial #35868, Ks class, 57" drivers, 215 psi boiler pressure, 22.5x30" cylinders, engine weight of 213,000 lb, tractive effort of 47,000 lb. All 318 members of the Ks class were retired by 1953. No photographer listed. |
