Description:  This is the first 4-6-4 Hudson built by the Montreal Locomotive Works for the Canadian Pacific Railwy in November of 1929. Numbered CP 2800, the loco served well for nearly 29 years before being retired and scrapped in April of 1958. Note the "elephant ear" smoke detectors on this loco - most were removed later. Description:  Built by the Montreal Locomotive Works in September of 1930, this spectacular 4-6-4 Hudson headed up the crack varnish of the Canadian National Ray. After serving the CN for nearly 31 years, the locomotive was scheduled to be preserved but was accidentally scrapped in November of 1961.To make up for it, CN #5703 was renumbered as 5700 and donated to the NMST in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Currently the cab of #5700 (nee-5703) is on display at the Elgin County Rwy Museum in St Thomas, Ontario, Canada. Specs - serial #68394, class K-5-a, 80" drivers, impressive 275 psi boiler pressure, 23x28" cylinders, engine weight of 356,400 lb, tractive effort of 43,279 lb. Description:  Looking very "European" with the curved elephant ear smoke detectors, Canadian National 4-6-4 Hudson #5702 led a good life. Built by the Montreal Locomotive Works in 1930, it was saved from the scrapper's torch and donated to donated to the Canadian Historical Rwy Association in September of 1960 where it is on display. Specs - serial #68396, K-5-a class, tall 80" drivers, impressive 275 psi boiler pressure, 23x28" cylindeers, engine weight of 356,400 lb and tractive effort of 43,279 lb. Description:  Running along the open countryside with its passenger train is Canadian National 4-6-2 Pacific #5588. This loco was built by the Grand Trunk Rwy shops in 1911 as GTR #240 but in 1923, moved to the CN roster as their #5588 (serial #1513, class K-3-b). The loco was one of the fortunate few that was not scrapped but instead, placed on display in Windsor, Ontario, Canada circa early 1970's. No date, location or photographer was listed for the photo.
