Unusual looking crossover between a coach car, doodlebug, and bus spotted here in an open area in the Toronto yard. The original photo is attributed to Colin Menzies III collection as well as having been in the Pacific Western Rwy collection (operated by Union Lumber Co). Other than it being an oil-electric powered unit, not much background information could be found on this item. Thanks to Raymond Kennedy (see comment below) for providing new info - Built 11/1923 #15816, by National Steel Car Company. It was powered by a Sterling 6 cyclinder gass engine, contained 32 seats and was 54 feet long. Eventually scrapped in May of 1941. |
