This blurry action shot of Southern Pacific 2-8-2 Mikado #3268 was taken near Lancaster, CA by rail fan Paul Dailey. Lima Locomotive Works built Southern Pacific 2-8-2 Mikado #3268 (serial #1487, class MK-6) in December of 1914. During its operating life, it was rebuilt twice - first in July of 1928 at Ogden, UT and second in July of 1941 at the Bakersfield, CA. The loco was finally "vacated" (retired) in May of 1954 at Dunsmuir, CA with later being sold for scrap in January of 1952.No date was given for the photo so an approximate one was used. The photo was taken by Paul Dailey and is now in my collection. |
