Here are the front cover and a 15-page cover article by Mr. Frederick Westing entitled "This Is The Story Of A Pacific ~ The World's Greatest." They were published originally in the August 1956 issue of "Trains" magazine, pages 44-58. "The K4's played a great role in Pennsylvania Railroad history. As a class, their life span of usefulness predates World War I and carries them right up to the present day of diesel supremacy." (Page 58) Also included is Mr. David P. Morgan's "Second Section," wherein he offers some biographical information relating to his friend, Mr. Westing.

Here is page two of a 15-page cover article by Frederick Westing entitled "This Is The Story Of A Pacific ~ The World's Greatest." It was published originally in the August 1956 issue of "Trains" magazine, page 45. All of the locomotives pictured here are PRR Class K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacifics" that were built in Juniata. On The Left: #3731 was built in February of 1920 and retired in August of 1952. Second From Left: #3681 was built in July of 1918 and retired in October of 1950. Third & Fourth From Left: Both photos are of #5495, which was built in February of 1928 and retired in April of 1956. Incidentally, the builder's badge depicted here belongs to engine #5495.

It was published originally in the August 1956 issue of "Trains" magazine, page 55. Both of the locomotives in the top two photos are PRR Class K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacifics" that were built in Juniata. Top Photo: #5399 was built in August of 1924, rebuilt with oscillating cams by Lima Locomotive Works in 1939, and retired in November of 1953. Middle Photo: #3847 was built in April of 1923, rebuilt with rotary cam poppet valves, and retired in November of 1953.
