Viewing Album:  Then and Now: NEC at Morrisville (1977 vs. 2014)

Album Info:Returning to the NEC at Morrisville after last photographing Amtrak operations in March, 1980 showed an expected generational shift in locomotives and equipment, as well as the glaring abscence of Conrail freight traffic that was diverted away from the NEC in the early 1980's. The only survivors seen from the 1980's were the Septa Silverliner IV's. Long gone were the GG1's, E60's, Metroliners, and even the AEM7's that replaced the GG1's in the early 1980's. In their place were Septa Silverliner V's, NJ Transit ALP-46's, and Amtrak Asela and ACS-64's. Understandably, security changes from the 1970-1980's include fencing of parking lots and all areas near trackside. Gone is the wonderful trackside view, with a Morris-emblemed signal box now standing in that spot. A fenced dog park now provides public access for pictures near the Delaware river bridge. Note: Each image's photo date was added within each Description field. In order to present an organized historical comparison within the album, all Photo Date fields were listed as 8/25/14 which is the date for the most recent images in the album.
